An influential philosophical tradition whose early practitioners’ claims to profound powers were known from antiquity. The defining objectives of alchemy are varied; these include the creation of the fabled philosopher’s stone possessing powers including the capability of turning base metals into the noble metals gold or silver, as well as an elixir of life conferring youth and immortality. Western alchemy is recognized as a protoscience that contributed to the development of modern chemistry and medicine. Alchemists developed a framework of theory, terminology, experimental process and basic laboratory techniques that is still recognizable today.  Translate this into the transformation of edible materials into delicious works of art…this is what I do.

I decided to begin by addressing the industry that is responsible for who I am today and the reason I have started this very blog.  Over the past decade, we have seen a growing interest in the hospitality industry through the advent of various food related TV channels and a plethora of web sites to the point now where virtually everyone now has a frame of reference when discussing this topic.  It’s really no longer the inigma it used to be, known only in small circles among its own.  In keeping with this, I will approach related topics open for comment on the “ins and outs” of the business peppered with my personal experiences throughout this blog.

Other topics I will cover will include culinary techniques and methods tried and true, recipes and demos (when I begin to import video), product reviews, restaurant reviews, and daily tips to help you with your own culinary projects.  Stay tuned for my V-log which is due in August 2012 and will be available through subscription providing tutorials and demos and my own cooking adventures as well.  Enjoy!
